Get to know the organisation behind the change — our origins, values, leadership, and the communities we serve.
The Vicegerents Care Initiative (VCI) was founded by a group of passionate Nigerians who believed that real change begins at the grassroots level. Witnessing firsthand the gaps in healthcare, education, and social justice across Nigerian communities, our founders resolved to act — not tomorrow, but today.
Since our founding, VCI has grown from a small volunteer group to a fully registered nonprofit with national reach and growing international partnerships. Every intervention we design, every programme we deliver, is anchored in one simple truth: every human life has equal worth and deserves equal care.
We are proud to be a Nigerian organization telling Nigerian stories, solving Nigerian challenges, and celebrating Nigerian resilience — while meeting the highest global standards of impact and accountability.
Support Our MissionTo empower communities and transform lives through sustainable, inclusive, and impact-driven interventions in health, education, rights, environment, and family development.
A Nigeria — and a world — where every person has access to health, education, justice, and a dignified standard of living, regardless of background or circumstance.
Integrity — Compassion — Inclusivity — Transparency — Collaboration — Innovation — Community-first Service. These are not just words; they guide every decision we make.
Six core values guide every programme, partnership, and interaction at VCI.
We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards in all financial, operational, and community dealings. Every kobo is accounted for.
We see people first — not cases or statistics. Our approach is rooted in empathy, dignity, and respect for every person we serve.
Our programmes are designed to reach the most marginalised — women, children, persons with disabilities, and rural communities — without exception.
We publish regular impact reports, audited financial statements, and beneficiary data because accountability to our donors and communities is non-negotiable.
We constantly evaluate our methods, adopt evidence-based approaches, and welcome new ideas that help us serve our communities more effectively.
Every initiative is co-designed with the communities we serve. Local knowledge, local ownership, and long-term sustainability are our guiding principles.
From a small founding idea to a nationally recognized nonprofit — here is how VCI has grown.
VCI received its official NGO registration endorsed by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) from the Nigerian government.
Driven by compassion and community impact, a dedicated team of VCI volunteers in Edo State launched its pioneer outreach programme, the Ramadan Mubarak TV Show — a daily inspirational broadcast that has reached over 400,000 viewers annually. Through this initiative, VCI has distributed more than ₦5 million in charitable support, providing relief and hope to over 500 orphans and vulnerable individuals through financial assistance, welfare support, and community care programs.
VCI provides free legal aid, advocacy services, and rights awareness programs to individuals facing injustice, abuse, discrimination, and social exclusion. Successfully secured bail for 2 inmates and provided food and sanitary materials to those in need.
VCI surpassed 5000 cumulative medical beneficiaries and continued to expand its healthcare initiatives across multiple regions.
VCI made its first international partnership with the Sadaqah Network Charity in the UK, benefiting from financial support and collaborative initiatives.
